Short profile:The Centro Di Servizio (CSV), Centre of Voluntary Service, is strongly committed on working at the local level, offering support to all voluntary associations that are active locally on several fields. CSV aims at improving the quality of all voluntary activities through a variety of offers, one of which is the European Voluntary Service. The organization aims at encouraging youth participation on the local level, and at offering an intercultural learning experience to the associations that benefit from its services.
The CSV would like to contribute to the construction of the “Europe of cultures”, a place where people and not only economies are the core of political choices, through concrete projects that will support and give new impulse to local organization and that will be an important formative experience for the young EVS volunteers involved.
The Centre belongs to the ACSV net, a big umbrella organization that coordinates 3 CSVs located in 3 cities: Vercelli, Biella and Novara. The latter, in the past 6 years, hosted 12 EVS volunteers, and sent 14 Italian volunteers abroad. It supported youth groups wishing to organize youth exchanges, and it organized 2 Contact Making Seminars to strengthen its international net and to improve its competences with the Youth Programme. The CSV of Biella is supported by the workers and experts of the CSV of Novara.
Some local voluntary associations are now (September 2007) appling to be accredited as hosting organizations. They have already expressed their need to be supported by a coordinating organization, and CVS is ready to offer them this new important service.
