| Short profile: | “Debate in Civil Society” Public Union was founded in January 2001 by the group of “Debate” program coordinators (the program has been developed in Azerbaijan since 1998) and it was registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2005. “Debate in Civil Society” NGO aims to educate the society through services providing and development of youth initiatives. Organization is functioning in 7 cities of the country, including Sumgayit, Sheki, Mingechevir, Ganja, Lankaran, Nakhchevan and Baku. “Debate in Civil Society” Public Union is a member of International Debate Education Association (IDEA) which is an umbrella organization of debate organizations and helps to promote debate program both locally and globally.\\r\\nThe public union has 3 strategic areas: 1)Youth/Educational programs; 2)Services; 3)Institutionalization. In the meantime, organization promotes debate program, revenue program and a social program related with youth unemployment. “Debate in Civil Society” Public Union renders services such as Informational (surveys, researching), Educational (trainings and seminars, consulting), Organizational (summer school, tournament, press-conference, round table). The NGO is strengthening institutionalization of its programs. Main developed directions of it are: apply of debate in the creative thinking, debate as an educational methodology, development of debate clubs, monitoring of education budget and youth policy. Within different activities the public union has cooperated with lots of international, state and non-governmental organizations such as UNİCEF, International Rescue Committee (İRC), Eurasian Foundation (EF), Open Society Institute; Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sport, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan; “Buta” humanitarian organization, “TUTU” Child organization, MİDEO, “Healthy Mind Youth Organization” Public Union, “Free minds” Association, “İRELİ” Republic Youth Movement, Student-Youth Organizations and etc. For realization of its aims organization has founded or operates in the following networks: National Debate Association (NDA), International Debate Educational Association (İDEA), NGO Alliance on the protection of Child Rights, National Budget Group (NBG), Association of the Adult Education. |
