Short profile:Sollefteå Municipality is situated in the Ångermanland region of Västernorrland County, in the middle of Sweden. The countryside is undulating and most of it is covered by forest. It is dominated by the Ångerman river and its tributaries the Fax and the Fjällsjö rivers which flow through the municipality. Sollefteå is a large geographic area, 5,494 square kilometres.
The town of Sollefteå, with a population of approximately 9,000, has developed into a service community with good commercial and public service sectors. There is a modern hospital and a vocational and technical school with special studies, for example, skiing. Unlimited possibilities for an active outdoor recreational life is one of Sollefteå`s special advantages.

The following departments can be contacted via the switchboard -The Municipal Executive Committee, Public Works, Social Services, Child and youth Welfare, Culture and Recreation, Environment and Planning and the Rescue Services. All other municipal departments and companies can also be contacted via the switchboard. The local offices of the Municipality help.

Sollefteå municipality is a local authority at the city council – Culture Education and Sports Department.
YOUTH activity and the support of the Youth council are some of the missions of the section of youth department at the Sollefteå municipality. What we do:
-We co-ordinate some EU – YOUTH projects within the framme of the youth in action youth programme such as youth exchanges, also give support to youth, education and training to youngsters and youthleaders by organising educational seminars, training courses related to youth issues. We support Youth initiatives and NGO’S of our community as the examples: Local youth festivals, Concerts, youth exchanges, youth camps, youth information etc.
We are both sending and hosting organisation for EVS in Europe and run an EURODESK www.eurodesk.org office since 2001.
