| Short profile: | CEMEA is a non profit-making association, present in all regions of France, involved in educational, social and cultural policies. It is a movement for popular education, an educational movement and a professional and vocational training organisation, and has been involved in all fields of education and social work for over 60 years: educational leisure, education for young children, schooling, integration of disabled people, cultural practices, social and professional insertion, environmental education, international partnerships in education.
The CEMEA’s activities are based on values of active education, which they have come to summarise as follows:
“There is only one kind of education. It is there for everyone, anywhere, at any time. All human beings can develop and even transform themselves during the course of their lives. They have both the will and the potential to do so.
All human beings deserve our respect and consideration regardless of gender, age, origin, religion, culture, and social background.
Education should be based on activity, which is the essential component in one’s personal development as well as in acquiring culture.”
The CEMEA de Picardie are active in the following domains:
- Training of professionnal and voluntary youth workers
- Social sector (coordination of a programme for social and professionnal orientation and integration of youth, in partnership with the Judiciary Youth Protection – PJJ)
- Politiques Educatives (training of pupils representing their schoolmates, of teachers, of parents ; Contrats Educatifs Locaux)
- Continuous vocational training (for professionnals in the domain of mental health)
- working groups of members of our association (media education, interculturality, theater activities…)
The CEMEA de Picardie have an international department. Its activities are:
- Sending organisation for EVS (long-term and short-term)
- Provide help for construction of European and international projects
- Cooperation for training programs and exchanges for voluntary and professional youth workers, social workers… (Partnerships with organizations in Czech Republic, Morocco, Germany, Belgium, Italy)
- An information place with documents about international solidarity and sustainable development...
