Short profile:Trajekt is an independent, regional non-profit institute for social-, welfare- and community work in Maastricht and its surroundings. 270 professionals work at Trajekt, 146 freelancers and about 800 contracted volunteers. They reach out to the community to empower citizens to solve social problems and to deliver a contribution to general welfare, social integration and quality of life. Special attention is always given to activities with and for poor, underprivileged and vulnerable children, youngsters, adults and elderly people. One of our domains is youth welfare work. The youth worker builds bridges for/ with youngsters with fewer opportunities who cannot learn their way about in society. Examples of activities: sports (street soccer, survival, basketball, camps) and visits to shows or cultural events: always in a supporting way which means that we try to trigger our youngsters to participate in organising. A youthworker also gives information to groups/ individuals about items that are important for teenagers and youngsters (alcohol, road safety, money, drugs, relationships etc.)We are looking for partners that are willing to exchange youngsters for short term EVS within the youth in action programme, and for the period autumn 2009- autumn 2010 we also are looking for two long-term volunteers. Under 2009-NL-11 We also are participating in action 1.1 (exchanges).
