| Short profile: | Youth centre of Dravinja valley is a youth organisation in a small town in Slovenia, named Slovenske Konjice.
It carries out different daily, weekly, monthly and yearly activities for youngster from 10 to 28 years old. Weekly activities we do: language school (Slovenian, English, French, Spanish), dance school (salsa, flamenco, little school of dance for children), driving school (to get driving license), handicraft workshops, sport school (athletic school for age 10 -15), concerts on big screen, sport events on big screen, play station, …. Youth centre offers free internet with 4 fixed computers and W-lan.
Monthly we carry out up to 2 bigger concerts of more famous Slovenian groups, one theather show, 2 tournaments in play station, and 2 tournaments in hand football, pikado, pool. Yearly our aim is to fulfill youngsters’ free time on base of active participation and volunteering. Our yearly LOCAL projects are: cultural half month (15 evenings of literature, music, poetry, drama, theater, multimedia), sport events (with wind against drugs – basketball, football, skating, hockey, drawing; basketball tournament; athletic Olympiad for primary schools), summer evenings fulfilled with ideas of youngsters, prevention activities in cooperation with high school, police, red cross…
There is a music room in our organisation, where young bands can practice and video room to make youth shows.
Youngsters are involved in programme on daily base. Daily there are about 200 spending their time, working or volunteering in youth centre.
Youth centre of Dravinja valley is a non-governmental organisation, established by local students club in 1999. Membership is free.
Youth centre structure: council of the centre, director, working team (assistant director, EVS coordinator, activity coordinator, computer manager, tourism manager, secretary, program leader…), council of international projects, council of activities program, council of tourism.
Youth centre of Dravinja valley offers help also to local youth organisations (to be established, financial support, help on projects, renting conference rooms for free, using the address and all the facilities…).
As international organization we are yearly organizing 2 youth exchanges, 1 contact making seminar and 1 training course. In year 2008 we hosted also 14 EVS (European volunteers) that were and still are working on different projects in youth centre.
