| Short profile: | The Youth Council is an institution and an instrument of active citizenship. This is a forum for consultation between municipality and the youngsters and it aims at developing and expanding the channels of communication between young people and institutions, by recognizing the importance of youth and stimulating participation. The council proposes and promotes targeted interventions for young people, projects and initiatives for prevention; it promotes researches, meetings, debates and events.
So the youth council:
Is a channel of communication between the public administration and youngsters
Promotes researches, meetings, parties, actions for youngsters and debates, closely collaborating with the Town Council
Helps to improve the relationship between young people and Institutions
is composed by people aged 14-30
The Youth Council is composed by 5 different committees: "sport, culture and leisure", "european projects", "environment, folklore and territory", "health and dependencies" and "youth centre".
We also have a new Youth Center called "OFF", which opened on June 5th, 2008. The Centre offers: information, courses about different subjects (theatre, cinema, journalism, sports, sustainable lifestyles, radio, clowning, etc), internet free access, instruments for video-editing, games and videogames, newspapers books and magazines, music rooms, amusing occasions (parties, festivals and concerts) and much more!!
The particularity and the pride of our center, open daily from 15:00 to 19:00 and two nights a week from 21.00 to 23.00, is that all the activities are self-produced or at least self-proposed by young people for young people, in an attempt to encourage peer-to-peer and active participation in the daily life of the city. |
