Short profile:Stuttgarter Jugendhaus gGmbH maintains and operates 41 institutions for open work with children and adolescents and possesses the necessary equipment to offer children, adolescents and young adults a wide variety of opportunities for leisure activities, education and communication. An essential goal of all our educational efforts is the emancipation of young people, enabling them to be conscious of their own place in society and to take an active part in society's tasks. Stuttgart Youth House wants to increase the involvement of adolescents and children. It employs 400 people full-time, and there are a great many voluntary workers as well. Many projects in the field of international youth culture exchange have been implemented in the last few years, such as the UNESCO World Youth Festival for 2006 young people from all over the world and the Fan Camp, both large projects of encountering, which were successfully implemented during the FIFA World Cup and enabled friendships and contacts worldwide.

Using international volunteers, the Stuttgarter Jugendhaus would like to turn its internal attention towards Europe and to make the public more aware of the main points of its international activities. To this end a project office has been founded, which mainly focuses on applying for and implementing projects with European partners. The office gained a whole wealth of experience in worldwide contacts and networks last year from various youth projects within the framework of the FIFA World Cup.
