Short profile:Barafunda The Association is active since 1982, from a group of young high school students.
Begins its activities with vulnerable groups (socially and economically) in 1989 from a Primary Prevention Project (supported by the Project Life) a partnership between the Cooperative Externato Benedicta of the Institute of Social Reinsertion of Caldas da Rainha. Since then he has developed a wide range of activities with children, youth and adults.

In 1997 he was recognized as IPSS - Private Institution of Social Solidarity - and entered in RNAJ - National Register of Youth Associations of IPJ (Portuguese Youth Institute). Also in 1997, became accredited by the IQF - Institute for Quality in Training, as an independent trainer with the registration No. 690, under the ATF - the Academy of Labor and Training, Training Pole Benedicta. In 1998 became the Association of Public Utility.
From 2002 to 2005 was also promoting the project "Creation" under the Municipal Plan of Primary Prevention of Drug Addiction IDT - Institute for Drugs and Drug Addiction.
Today, its mission and primary objective, to promote social welfare, economic and cultural life of the poorest people. It is organized in two lines of action, including the Polo Training and Development which includes the Academy of Labor and Training, the Center Pole and New Opportunities for Children and Youth Center which includes Playful and Alternative Routes Project (the choices). Together they offer an integrated response, reflected in several projects, allowing residents of the municipality of Alcoba
