Short profile:ITACA, acronym for Il Territorio Al Centro dell'Attenzione (the territory / land in the centre of attention) is an association for local development, based upon the principles of sustainability, an integrated approach, diversification and coordination. ITACA promotes, organizes and executes cultural, educational, environmental, agricultural and youth projects for local, provincial and regional public organisations, schools and other associations. ITACA does this by collaborating with local, provincial and regional public organisations, schools, universities, cultural centres and private companies.
In the past ITACA has already participated to 4 European youth projects and under the former European program ITACA was accredited for Action 2 as well. At the moment ITACA is involved in a Grundvigt project for realising a communication network for exchange of knowledge between local holiday farms (agriturismi) with Spanish and French partners.
ITACA's direct target group is the whole local population of the province of Teramo in the region of Abruzzo, and more broadly the whole population of the region of Abruzzo.
ITACA is an association of around 50 members. The regular staff consists of 3 professionals (3 business consultants), 2 volunteer stage students, 2 secretaries and 2 members of the directive board. More professional and supporting staff is employed or volunteering on a project basis only.
ITACA is partly funded by the 4 municipalities (comuni) where it has its base and has organised and manages a partnership agreement between the municipalities (the so-called 4C).
