Short profile:
For the past ten years, the festival has enlarged its frontiers and won an international position, having a contribution for it its particular sense, its independence and the living of great moments provided by inedited films in Portugal.
For the next three years, we will try to improve the quality of every edition.
AVANCA is the only festival in Portugal that congregates a cinema international competition, television and video works and new technologies of multimedia. Our aim is to bring to Portugal works from all over the world, but mainly from Europe, including those countries that have a low capacity of audiovisual production.

Film Competition
The competition is organized by the following way: we have a cinema competition with long
feature films, fiction short films, animation short films, a television competition (where are included the documentaries), a video competition, and multimedia competition. The selection jury, by selecting quality works, is also focused in the diversity and culture of each film. The jury is constituted by cinema and audiovisuals professionals from different countries and cultures.
The AVANCA Film Festival has several extensions in the continent and islands. We also developed extensions in other countries prepared by programmers
