| Short profile: | Association KULT has been active since its foundation in 2002. After a few local projects and activities in Sarajevo our activity has been spread across three more towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina: apart from Ilidža we have our office in Tuzla, Brčko-District BiH and Gradačac.
Our mission is to develop an open society, starting from the municipal level, in which citizens are involved in all decision-making processes in the public life. For this reason, KULT trains citizens, primarily young people, in existing opportunities for their involvement and how they can establish partnership with authorities with the aim of finding joint solutions in their communities.
KULT has experience in development of legislation, so is involved in development of numerous Laws on all levels of government. Additionally, we are initiators of adaptation of the Law on Youth in FBiH and Brčko-District BiH. We have created a draft of the Youth Policy and, together with the Federal Commission for Coordination of Youth Issues, at FBiH Parliamentary Assembly, forwarded it to the parliamentary procedure. KULT Association has lobbied the members of the Parliament through independently organised promotional and public campaigns, after which the draft of the Law was adopted. We are the organisers of public debates which were held at 10 cantons, and we have prepared complete material which is necessary for the Law proposal finally to be forwarded for the final adaptation. We are known to cooperate with governmental institutions, which can sometimes halt its process, but pre-planned and well thought through methods we influence the governmental institutions to fulfil their obligations in coordination with us.
Through various non-formal trainings and additional trainings, consultations, monitoring, education, courses, seminars, planned games, problem solving workshops, round tables, brochures, hand-outs etc, we help people, associations, informal groups and other interested parties to become recognised members of the society, who are ready to take over responsibility and plead for the improvement of the living status.
KULT is a member of the Youth Network and, within it, is responsible for informal education. KULT is also a member of the Network for Change, and in the first year, the president of KULT was the coordinator of the Network. Additionally, we are members of the BiH NGO Council and Mreža PLUS (Network Plus). |
