Short profile:CYDD's main aim is to reach a modern society through modern education by protecting and enhancing the principles and rights gained when Turkish Republic was founded in 1920 and Turkey has decided to turn its face to the modern world by adapting the Latin alphabeth, the western calendar instead of the lunar calendar, secularism and democracy, the Roman and Swiss code of law, accompanied by a strive for human rights and peace and development of the country. CYDD believes development can only come about by equal access to education and good educational tools regardless of regional differences. CYDD supports education by making projects nationwide which leads to improvement of the educational environment and especially for improving enrollment of girls in schools and nonformal education of women.. The main activities consist of:
Scholarships for girls education (provided 44,094 girls with scholarships to date- presently giving 21,560 scholarships)
Scholarships for University and Academy Students (39,577 students have received scholarships and presently providing 7530 scholarships.)
Constructing and improving schools, student residences and community centers
Establishing libraries
Support to Art Projects
Village Schools and Girls Dormitories
Classrooms for preschoolers
Rehabilitation and community centers,
community projects
literacy courses for women and women empowerment
Various projects with EU and World Bank Grants
Establishing a science lab, and an astronomy lab
Children's Club
Youth Organization

These projects have been accomplished by mobilizing individual and corporate funds toward our projects.
The organization has 99 branches and 14,000 members. Each branch has a board which reports to the headquarters. The branches also have their own youth organization. They generate their own projects according to the local needs but also work with the headquarters in major projects. The branches work on voluntary basis but in general each have at least one full time professional. The headquarters in Istanbul have thirty people on payroll and about sixty professional volunteers. Due to the nature of its activities the association works closely with city governors, Ministry of Education and its branches as well as school principals and teachers. The Association also has publication about teaching methods in schools geared toward improving the quality of education in schools.
