Short profile:The Hoody Project is a Company Limited by Guarantee (7148035) supporting young people to campaign and raise awareness about issues that affect them and helping to break down barriers for excluded groups to participate on equal terms.
The organisation was formed in December 2009 by young people who had previously been members of Shaidy Characters, a service user participation group for homeless young people in the former district of Derwentside. While The Hoody Project is an entirely new initiative, the concept behind both projects is similar and many of the key people remain involved

The Hoody Project is a non profit making company any surplus is redirected back into activities for young people. Company registration took place early in 2010 and we are hoping to register as a charity within the first year. Over a third of The Hoody Project Company Directors have previously experienced homelessness and It is intended that over time more young people will take on this responsibility.

Although Homelessness prevention is the forefront of our informal youth learning, there are also many other projects we have become involved in. through YP consultation we found growing technological advances need to be keep up with so for a large project THP are developing a digital presence; website design, film making, Digital arts, game production and music production: hopefully without forgetting the importance of political campaigning and lobbying.
