Short profile:Profile: “Emeis kai o Kosmos”/”Nuestro Mundo” is a NGO created by a group of young people in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. The motivation for the creation of the NGO resulted from the need to improve our quality of life by undertaking an active role in our local society in sectors that particularly interests us (such as environment, critical consumption, arts, social use of new technologies).The Cretan society due to the geographical insularity doesn’t offer many opportunities to young people neither to innovate nor to think and act as global citizens. Our NGO wishes to operate as a youth actor of positive change by linking local to global issues.

Indicative/regular activities: running of campaigns and education programs on critical/green consumption, commercialization of fair trade products and local bio-products, participation in ecofestivals and cultural events, use of new technologies and arts as tools for environmental and social awareness (e.g. maintenance of the website www.nuestromundo.gr that operates also as an electronic library and magazine, organization of film screenings for awareness-raising, operation of an artistic laboratory of recycled materials), offering internships to students, exchange of experiences with other European organizations, etc.
