Short profile:University Rescue Squad (URS) is a non-government organization, established in 1990. The goal of the organization is performing rescue activities in natural disasters and industrial accidents, humanitarian activities among the margins of society, environment preservation activities, support to the Bulgarian Red Cross in the realization of their humanitarian tasks. We are specially trained to work in tough conditions and in rescue operations, to give first aid, to transport injured people, to use rope access.

We took participation in the search and rescue opperations in the 1999 earthquake in Turkey.

We fought forest fires in Rila and Pirin in 2000 and 2003.

We helped in relieve efforts after the floods in 2005.
