Short profile:AEGEE Europe (pronounciation: a\'e:schee) called Associationdes Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l\'Europe, because the foundation going back to a Students Conference in 1985 in Paris, under the chairmanship of Franck Biancheri. AEGEE is also well known as European Student’s Forum.

AEGEE is a network with over 200 local groups located in 40 countries. The whole year through AEGEE organizes events on the main topics of Active Citizenship, Higher Education, Culture Exchange and Peace and Stability. AEGEE is a non-governmental and non-confessional organization, but represents the opinion of a united Europe. Furthermore AEGEE is a non-profit organization.
The whole network has currently 13.000 members all over Europe and achieves almost 300.000 people through its information channels.
Moreover AEGEE has a consultative status in the European Parliament and the United Nations and is a member of the Youth Forum. In the past AEGEE worked together with the UNESCO on several international projects.

AEGEE-Wien is a local group of the network and organized several projects in the past like the international conferences „Y-Vote“ a project for the elections of the European Parliament, different actions for the European Day of Languages and assist cultural exchanges with Moskwa, Ogre, St. Petersburg and München. Moreover AEGEE-Wien organizes a Summer University each year and takes care about the “SprachDuo” which is an initiative to learn and practice languages with a tandem-partner.
