Short profile:The San Lawrenz Local Council administrates the locality of San Lawrenz and is very instrumental in social aspects amongst all the youth and their education. The Youth for San Lawrenz (YSL) is a sub-committee within the Local Council which works on various cultural activities involving and engaging youth in this field. The youth committee believes in the importance of social and cultural activities in the village, so as to foster active participation, collaboration, and non-formal learning. All the events and activities that have been co-organised by the youth committee have been very well attended and sometimes the attendance surpassed every expectation. All activities held by the YSL are done by youths through voluntary efforts.
The YSL targets youths between the age of 15 and 30 and focuses mainly on Social, Cultural and Educational activities. The following are the activities that YSL have been involved in:
• Carnival Competitions and Soiree;
• Meals on Wheels on Christmas;
• San Lawrenz Day;
• San Lawrenz Prize;
• Distribution of Hampers to the Elderly
• YSL is instrumental in the education for environmental and climate change by helping the local council in his aim to bring the village as a sustainable and ecological locality by 2015.
• Educational Courses (which extend beyond the years spent in school and include activities such as crafts, ganutell, lacemaking, art and literacy programmes) and;
• Children\'s Christmas Party.
The YSL has also participated in a number of youth exchanges, and also had the opportunity to share their experiences with other European youths, thus acquiring a rich experience on European Identity
