Short profile:The City Council of Ourense is the legislative and executive body that governs this medium- sized city in the northwest of Spain, the third largest city of Galicia region. Ourense Youth Department is the council agency charged with the planning and supervision of services for youth. Department\'s youth policies aim to provide the needed tools and resources that will secure youth inclusion in society, and are focused in two guidelines: Promoting intercomunnication and dialogue between youth associations, movements and workgroups and providing a wide range of educative and leisure alternative activities, namely job readiness oriented ones, so along those about learning resources.

Ourense\'s Youth Department has got a compromise with youth associations and movements taking them into account as a way to ensure youth participation in civil society and contribute to build
comprehensive citizenship. In accordance, this agency has being offering for the last years financial and technical support to these initiatives, also tending to promote new ones by providing
information and good practice-exchanges scenarios. One recent initiative as the Youth Forum, a non formal meeting were youth representatives were ask to make proposals and discuss different
related issues, had proved to be an useful tool for effective youth policy making and It had also been an valuable source of information and social contact for agency work.

Encouraging youth fully self-development and satisfaction is also well related to securing information access. On this, Youth Department works also as a dinamic database, providing
counselling regarding job oppportunities, formation, grants, european projects, volunteering, etc.
Nowadays Ourense\'s Youth Department is engaged with the management of a new facility called Casa da Mocidade (Youth Center): an open space which youth could use as a meeting
point, working place and brainstorming lab to support cooperative projects. We believe lack of job opportunities is youth main handicap to self-development, so it has became our core issue:
formation, self-employment and supporting artistic and creative creations are policiy priorities.
