| Short profile: | ACMOS is an association of social promotion (according to the Italian law n. 380/2000), born in 1999, established in Turin (north of Italy). Fundamental principles are:
the human solidarity;
the promotion of a creative and responsible participation of people (children, teenagers and young people, young couples) in ordinary environments such as schools;
the active citizenship, in different fields and forms.
The Association is non-profit and open to everyone independently of political, confessional and ideological opinions and of the belonging to different categories, corporations or races.
Activities:
ACMOS organizes meetings, workshops, conferences and discussions, exhibitions, projections, performances, events in order to facilitate the exchange of ideas and knowledge. Particular care is done for the contact with schools, young people, families and other associations, groups and public/private institutions pursuing similar aims.
ACMOS also promotes self-financed community experiences for young and adult people – also within projects of local policies -; arranges facilities for cultural, educational, recreational, playful-sporting, creative and artistic entertainment, social and charity activities, in order to promote social relations and the participation of its own members and the civil community.
Examples of best projects improved in these years:
SCU.TER and V.E.S.P.A.: young people (20-24 years old) animate students on active citizenship’s practices in scholar assemblies;
DAI: young people (19-35 years old) experience social co-housing, living in small groups within popular apartment buildings, where they organise activities for neighbours (such as Italian courses for immigrants, information courses, after-school for children and recreational occasions to build proximity among people).
LIBERA: Acmos joins Libera, a national anti-mafia association, so it is involved in anti-mafia activities, such as workshops and laboratories in schools, regional and national events, and by managing properties confiscated to mafia families in Piemonte.
