Short profile:On 1st February 2008 the Municipality established the Office for culture and youth, in wich it was given the post of senior advisor in the field of youth.
In 2010, Maribor was awarded the title of European Youth Capital 2013 by the European Youth Forum. The title is one of the additional possibilities and opportunities, which the city can take advantage of on its path of developing a \"Youth Friendly City\".
in July 2012, it was appointed a working group to work in the office of the European Youth Capital Maribor 2013. On the project of European Youth Capital Maribor 2013 work a group of young people, with aims, of the Municipality of Maribor, to predict the coming year is intended to young people and their potential and give them opportunity to help to shape this important project with their experience and views.
