Short profile:I am an ELT teacher from Turkey .I am a teacher at a high school on Northern part of Turkey ,Kdz Ereğli .My students are aged 15-18 and learn both English and French as a foreign language .I have taken part in several eTwinning projects and EU Dialogue Award (3 times ) .
Our school has started giving education in 2008-2009 Academic Year. We have just 240 students .60 of them are 9th graders , 60 of them are 10th graders , 60 of them are 11th graders and 60 of them are 12th graders.
Our school is a type of comprehensive school in which students take high school education in the fields such as science , maths , English and other subjects. After taking 4 years education they attend university education
It is in an area with a lot of industry (Coal Mining and Iron and Steel).Most of our citizens work in these fields.
In our country Anatolian High School is a type of school which teaches English as a foreign language . Not every student but those who succeed in a 3-step- exam takes high school education in these schools.
The reason our school wants to participate in this programme is the improvement of the quality of school education and the encouragement of the European proportion.For this reason we try to participate in European programmes that serve the above goals.
Our aim is to make our students feel that they are capable- at their own level- to use a foreign language in order to investigate an international theme, to discuss, to evaluate, to report and to work out in a responsible way. Moreover , it is our explicit aim to gradually improve the communicative skills of our students and to strengthen their self-confidence and self-esteem by bringing them into contact with foreign students. We also want to encourage them to have an open mind in a continuously growing Europe.
