Short profile: |
Leaders of Tomorrow is an international group of active young people, who share the same vision and are motivated to bring about change. We are located in Istanbul, Turkey and our group consists of 42 young people coming from different cultural backgrounds. 8 of our members are foreigners who are permanent residents of Turkey and 34 are Turkish citizens coming from all regions of Turkey, such as Istanbul, Edirne, Mardin, Nevsehir, Duzce and others. Our members are coming from a wide range of professional backgrounds such as youth workers, trainers, students, teaching assistants and members of NGOs, who all share a passion for volunteering and youth work.
The initial founders of Leaders of Tomorrow met in Youth in Action Training Course in the United Kingdom in 2009 and from that moment onwards it had been their common goal and dream to set up a youth group active in the field of Human Rights and Social Inclusion. This dream came into fruition in 2010 with the establishment of Leaders of Tomorrow.
Leaders of Tomorrow is mainly active in the field of Human Rights, with a specific focus on the social inclusion of minorities and marginal groups, in particular Refugees and the Roma community in Turkey and internationally. Furthermore, one of our main aims is to provide opportunities to disadvantaged young people.
As individuals, the members of our group have extensive experience in the field of Youth Work through their organisation of and participation in over 60 Youth in Action, as well as other similar projects. Most of our members have participated in at least one Youth Exchange or Training Course in the youth field, with most such projects having a focus on marginalised and disadvantaged youth. Furthermore, our members have been involved in the organizing of Youth in Action projects as volunteers of NGOs and Foundations, such as Turkey-Europe Foundation, TEGV, Genc Hayat Foundation, Multeci- DER.
In addition, under the name of Leaders of Tomorrow, we have taken part in “Istanbul: Capital of Culture 2010” as volunteers. Our main duties were to organise and run projects and activities such as youth events, youth congress, music festivals and city development projects.
Currently, our main activities are focused on giving free consulting to youth with fewer opportunities, on how to study abroad and how to obtain scholarships, as well as providing free of charge language lessons to disadvantaged young people in order to increase their opportunities for a better education and future.
Our vision is a world where all young people have the opportunity to realise their dreams and we are motivated to work hard in order to come one step closer in achieving this. |
