"Charmilles" is another name for the hornbeam, most often cut in hedges.
An idea of the observation of life, without disturbing it, we can see through without being seen, and have a particular vision of it.
Les Charmilles Company is a theater company. It was founded in late 2009 at Ploufragan (Armor Coast, Brittany, France).
It explores the fundamental link between text and physicality in contemporary creation.
Artistic questioning of the company is closely linked to our human condition, our differences, our quests and our leaks. Based on the moments of daily and ordinary life; the company explores those moments when everything changes, where the everyday life becomes extraordinary, where choice, conscious or unconscious, lead us in unexpected places.
Our reflection feeds of the extraordinary everyday life of humans. We reflect about it, question it, look at it under other angles and thus gives to see it in order to highlight what is significant, shocking, beautiful, amazing. The company is looking particularly the place of minorities. At the base and throughout the artistic creation, the company causes meetings, exchanges with people around the themes it addresses. The transmission is an integral part of the creative process.
The company implements experimental workshops for young people, where are discussed the issues of artistic creation. As workshops, international exchange as well as exchange of best practices with other European and Mediterranean cultural structures.
It has established partnerships with several departmental, regional and international structures. Institutions: the Community of Saint- Brieuc, Association of Cultural and Artistic Development Côtes d'Armor " Itinéraires Bis " , the cultural department of the city of Guingamp , agricultural Plouisy High School , High School Ernest Renan at Saint-Brieuc .
Cultural structures : " la Passerelle " national stage of Saint-Brieuc , the cultural center " le Cap " in Plérin, the cultural center "Victor Hugo" in Ploufragan , the cultural center " la Ville Robert" in Pordic , the "Maison du Théâtre" in Brest , the cultural center "la Paillette " in Rennes , the cultural center " MAD'Art " Carthage in Tunisia, the Hub Lampedusa in Italy.
These partnerships have their object the theatrical creation aid, cultural activities related to its creations, actions of transmissions, etc.
The General Council of Côtes d'Armor and the agglomeration of Saint Brieuc are supporting the company les Charmilles.
