Short profile:Dear Sir/Madam,
I am the vice-manager of Celaleddin Karatay Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Karatay, Konya, Turkey. Our school has 479 students-384 boys and 95 girls- aged between 14 and 18 and 32 teachers. We have three departments : Animal Health and Breeding, Laboratuary Services and Food Technology. Our main aim is to educate technical staff for the agriculture market, especially for veterinarian technicians and laboratory assistants. In our school, we have two equipped laboratories, one for microbilogic analysis and one for agricultural (soil and water) analysis. Also, there is one anatomy laboratory for animal breeding and health department.
We are planning to have a Project on increasing the number of girl students in VET. The aim of the project is to provide gender equality in VET. As known, some vocational departments in VET are thought to be suitable for only girls and some for only boys. However, this is just a social prejudice and we can change this prejudice through many educational activities. Therefore, we can have more girls in our schools and prove that everybody, male or female, can perform every kind of job s/he wants.
