Summary:
This project aims to increase awareness about youth voluntary work by providing opportunities to further promote its benefits, especially in what concerns dialogue and solidarity between generations.
Objectives:
- To realize a local campaign to sensitize young people to the problems of population ageing and the benefits of being a volunteer in 2 years as special as 2011 (European Year of Volunteering) and 2012 (European Year for Active Ageing);
- To present volunteering opportunities for young people, either local or European;
- To disseminate intergenerational volunteering, the role of youth in dialogue and solidarity between generations and also in active ageing.
These practices are relevant to the youth work field and one way to encourage the European policy-makers to put intergenerational solidarity high on the EU agenda and to support the proposal to make 2012 the European Year on Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity.
