Summary:
This study visit will take place in October 2011 with young people, youth workers and youth leaders from different programme countries. The goal is to explore various ways of promoting job opportunities and to develop entrepreneurship projects for future international cooperation.
Family firms are important not only because they make an essential contribution to the economy but also because of the long-term stability they bring, the specific commitment they show to local communities, the responsibility they feel as owners and the values they stand for. These are precious factors against the backdrop of the current financial crisis.
Family businesses make up more than 60 % of all European companies, encompassing a vast range of firms of different sizes and from different sectors.
Entrepreneurship is hugely relevant to family businesses. Most start-ups begin as a family business and are faced with the question as to whether they want to continue the business beyond the founders. Therefore, promoting entrepreneurship is directly linked to promoting family businesses. As most start-ups begin as a family business, education should also include specific family business issues such as ownership, succession and family governance to better prepare future entrepreneurs to successfully run their businesses. Against the current backdrop of the financial crisis, these are precious characteristics. The crisis may be a good moment for family firms to prove the importance of the values they have always stood for.

So, it\'s time for youngsters from Europe to learn new strategies with specialists, representatives of companies and universities, and successful entrepreneurs in order to tackle the current economic situation and to look ahead to the evolution of the dynamics of employment and entrepreneurship.

Some of the planned activities:
- Workshops about youth employment and family businesses;
- Information about youth mobility programmes and entrepreneurship;
- Testimonials about successful examples of youth employment in family businesses;
- Visits to local family businesses in Portugal with a national and international impact;
- Development of new projects;
- Sharing of information about entrepreneurship and family businesses in the partner\'s home countries;
- Workshops about economic crisis and sustainability;
- Workshops about human resources and family businesses.
