Partners:
Co(op)ração + 6 organizations based in programme countries (27 EU countries, Croatia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey)
Teams:
4 participants (aged 18-25) + 1 leader (no age limits) per partner
Financial conditions:
- Board, lodging and activities during youth exchange days (as well as visa costs, if applicable and requested by the partner) are fully covered by Co(op)ração
- 70% of total travel costs for the exchange will be reimbursed (up to available budget) after the end of the activity, via bank transfer and only when all airline / travel agency invoices, e-tickets, boarding passes and other tickets are delivered to Co(op)ração
- Air travels for advanced planning visit will be arranged and fully covered by Co(op)ração. The partner commits to deliver all boarding passes and local transportation tickets to Co(op)ração
- If assigned by the Portuguese National Agency, the partner will receive after the youth exchange (via bank transfer) 100€ for preparation costs.
Summary:
Violence is a destructive force that can strike families and communities. The public takes great offense and gets outraged when a violent act is done against a child or when a family is torn apart due to some inexplicable act of violence, but there are other people that experience violence who do not get this intense attention: the elderly people. These are far too often pushed aside and forgotten but they too can experience great amounts of violence and abuse. This violence can take many forms:
- Physical Abuse, which is the use of physical force that may result in bodily injury, physical pain or impairment;
- Sexual Abuse, defined as non-consensual sexual contact of any kind with an elderly person;
- Emotional Abuse, which is the infliction of anguish, pain, or distress through verbal or non-verbal acts;
- Financial Exploitation, defined as illegal or improper use of an elder\'s funds, property, or assets.
Often elderly people don\'t speak about this issue, they feel embarrassed or even a certain loyalty especially if the abuse is perpetrated by a relative, a son or daughter. The abuse becomes a family secret, one that can lead to the that person\'s complete isolation and even to death if the abuse is not reported.
With this youth exchange, Co(op)ração plans to raise social awareness on all participants in what concerns violence towards elderly, so they can understand all the phenomenon and to take actions in a near future through voluntary work or other kind of activities to fight this problem and to build a better and more inclusive European society for elderly people. This will be turned into reality through the help of non-formal education methods, such as workshops, team building games, role plays, forum theaters and debates.

- If you will include people with fewer opportunities in your team, how many and what are their backgrounds;
- Extra costs that might be associated with participants with fewer opportunities (e. g. support persons);
- What is your nearest airport and the cost (per person) to reach it from where you live (round trip);
- Cost estimation for a round trip ticket between your nearest airport and Lisbon airport (IATA code: LIS), and between your nearest airport and Porto aiport (IATA code: OPO);
- Cost of a visa to come to Portugal (if applicable);
- Associated costs to get the visa (e. g. travel costs to embassy) (if applicable);
- A scan of your fully filled part 3 (you can find the template enclosed, DO NOT USE OUTDATED FORMS) (alternatively, part 3 can also be sent by fax to +351 214 757 661, please mention that in your reply). To be sure your part 3 is correctly filled, please check the attached document.
Then, AFTER BEING SURE YOUR DIGITAL PART 3 IS CORRECT (CHECK THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT) AND HAVING SENT ALL THE INFORMATION REQUESTED ABOVE, send 2 ORIGINAL COPIES by post to:
