Summary of the project:Today, Europeans are living longer and healthier lives than ever before. Since 1960, life
expectancy has risen by eight years, and demographic projections forecast a further five-year increase over the next forty years. These demographic changes present certain challenges and opportunities. Population ageing may increase pressure on public budgets and pension systems, as well as on the staffing of social and care services for older people. Old age is still often associated with illness and dependency, and older people can feel excluded from employment as well as from family and community life.
In this context active participation in voluntary activities could help reduce the isolation of older people as well as help develop intergenerational solidarities.
The seminar ‘’Cooperation Between Generations\\\'\\\' will focus on the theme of intergenerational dialogue in the world of volunteering. The event will be proposed as a platform for discussion and exchange of best practices. With the help of the experts we will lay the theoretical basis for the debate and the participation of delegations from European countries will ensure a diversity of views, experiences and ideas. The primary purpose of the seminar is to initiate a structured dialogue between the main actors in the field of social and youth policies as local public authorities, associations and universities with the aim of developing a range of activities and actions that can give concrete answers to the needs of the local territory.
