Summary of the project: | Believing at a Democratic Society within Europe, it’s construction can only be sustainable with an active participation from the Citizens, developing an aware European identity which implies the exercise of their civic rights.
Next year of 2014, we will have elections for the European Parliament, at May and these are the first elections after the Lisbon Treaty has strengthened the place and status from the Citizens, reviewed further the powers of Parliament by giving it larger responsibilities, such as the election of the President of the European Commission, following the proposal of the European Council.
Framed at the European Year of Citizens, this Project will disclose and promote, with and next to the Youth, the common sense of belonging, rights and duties related to the European Citizenship providing knowledge, developing a Citizenship based at the raising awareness as well at the Values on which Europe is instituted, providing guidelines and means of protection to their Citizens. We will lead the Participants to develop their Identity based at pro Human Rights, complementing their National Identity, catalyzing an empowering process, with their involvement and active participation, committing themselves to Europe's basic values, disposed at the “Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union”.
The activities inherent to the Project will be provided through methodologies that reinforce the non formal education, as well with the parallel use of peer and intercultural learning, focusing on the importance of this way of participation, since an early age, on concepts and activities to uphold the consciousness of a Civil Society as an index of a democratic society and also encouraging the intercultural dialogue as a mean to mutual understanding of differences, and an active Citizenship.
As a mean of breaking the inequitable distribution of opportunities, we will allocate Young with fewer opportunities as Participants.
