Project title:From idea into action!Project management Training course for young leaders
Organisation:Fundacja Centrum Aktywności Twórczej (fCAT)
Main theme for the project:Development Cooperation
Project type:Training and Networking of Those Active in Youth Work and Youth Organisations
Country:Poland
Place:Sława
The project starts:2014-7-4
The project ends:2014-7-10
Deadline for applications:2013-8-17
Duration:7
Group age (average):Not specified
Summary of the project: The participants will come from different youth organizations and youth groups and from different cultures. They will participate in the process of creating a mini version of a Youth in Action (YIA) project and in a journey from theory to practice. They will stay in nature area next to the lake and they will also experience polish culture and nature by taking part in both indoor and outdoor activities.

The trainers will use non-formal education methods which foster the participants’ personal and social development.

With the help of the theories learned in this project the participants will choose a topic on which they would like to do their own personal project. With the help of the trainers and the Youth in Action programme guide, they will practice writing a YIA project by using the application form provided. They will do this in groups. The groups will have a whole day to write a mini version of a YIA project including a budget and a week’s programme. Afterwards they will receive feedback from the trainers about their application form. Each group will also have some hours to implement part of their week’s programme and will receive feedback from the whole group. By doing this we will provide the participants the opportunity to learn about and experience both the project writing process and the use of theories in practice. The project writing and implementation day will help the participants to learn by doing, which is one of the main goals of the non-formal education method.

During the project the participants, who themselves work with young people, will learn tools of creativity like games, theatre theory and exercises. By working in an intercultural group, the participants will experience and learn about the different cultures. This will help to diminish our prejudices against each other and foster European awareness between the youth workers. The participants will also learn about the theory of ‘third culture’ which is about creating a new arena where two or more cultures meet. To achieve this we need, among many other things, communication skills and knowledge of the other culture.

We believe in the importance of this project, especially with the spreading economic crises in Europe. By doing this training course which focuses on teaching youth workers about writing and implementing projects, we will help the participants to empower young people in their own countries. We hope that the mini version of the YIA projects which the participants write during the project will come alive in the participants’ countries.
