Summary of the project:“Invisible people” is an international youth exchange within the Youth in Action programme (Action 1.1) that is going to be held in Lithuania from 9th till 17th of July 2010. \r\nThe main idea of this project is to raise awareness about poverty and fight against it. Invisible people are those persons who we would prefer not to see. They live in different world then ours and they have different problems. These are the people who have doubts whether they will have a place to stay or something not to starve. They usually live in small towns or in villages and are rather invisible. Most of our governments are implementing some strategies that should raise the quality of living for those people who live on the verge of poverty, but there is also a question if those strategies work and if they really meet the needs of poor people.\r\nThis is what we are going to do during the week in Lithuania. We will share the facts about poverty in our countries and we will discuss the policies against poverty that are implemented there. Later on we will learn about photography and interviews and will visit the places where the poverty is the reality. These places could be the villages, parts of towns, maybe even the places of scrap heaps (this will be decided during the APV). In these places we will take pictures and talk to some people to know the real problems that they face, not only the ones that we could think of. After the field visits we will gather together and work in small groups in order to prepare a declaration about the poverty and the needs of poor people in our countries and will hand it to the local authorities. Also we will do an exhibition in the centre of Vilnius of the pictures taken in the poor parts of the country and this is how the local people will know that different world and different people exist.\r\n
