Summary of the project:Art has the unique ability to transcend cultures, creating a common language between people of different backgrounds. It has been used for centuries to express personal perspectives and collective consciousness. Photography, specifically, has been used to capture the cultural norms of more modern times; it has been vital in recording both the mundane and exciting moments of life. These qualities make art a wonderful mechanism to teach and learn about different cultures. With this understanding, Code-X International is developing a Youth Exchange which will use photography to teach youth across Europe about the different cultures around them; as well as giving them the opportunity to display their own culture. Picture it: A Multi-cultural Experience, will bring youth together and teach them about photography while giving them the chance to create culturally inspired photos.

Special considerations:We greatly encourage the participation of young people with fewer opportunities. Specifically, we are looking for migrant youth, who stand to learn about their new culture, as well as the chance to express their experience in a new society. We also feel this will give a voice to youth who may not otherwise have an open outlet.
