Summary of the project:"Plural identities: Religion and Laicism, Identity and Diversity. The Challenge of building our future" will be a training for young people coming from different countries which will focus on how international youth can contribute to the definition of new criteria for participation and involvement in building Democracy in Europe and its neighbourhood. Youth associations and informal groups of Sur, a Turkish Municipality already active in promoting youth participation, want to contribute to the discussion and to realize an in-depth exchange of experiences and best practises among European Youth Associations about the four elements that are on the spot: Religion, Identity, Laicism, Diversity. We want to investigate the possible balance between Religion and Laicism, the possible balance between Identity and Diversity, and the role of the first two concepts in defining and affecting the latter two. As a result of the combination of the four elements we could have violence or nonviolence, tolerance or racism, social inclusion and participation or exclusion and discrimination. The project will give a unique chance for training active youth and at the same time assessing their expectations, opportunities and ideas on this regard.
